Darvis Project
Oct. 8-9 in Oregon City

Hero GuysMr. Darvis is the disabled neighbor of a client we served in Spring 2020, who had been concerned for him and helped him apply for our help. Mr. Darvis is 60-years-old, single, and has owned his Oregon City mobile home for 15-years. His partner, who had taken care of finances and home maintenance, passed away 4-years ago; and Mr. Darvis has had a difficult time keeping up.  Park management was planning to evict him if repair items were not done this year, and we were able to mobilize about 30 volunteers to take care of his needs so that he can remain in his home.  We're so glad we were able to help!

We pruned bushes and removed foliage/debris; pressure washed the home; made carpentry repairs to the front porch, back steps, and fascia boards; replaced missing skirting around most of the home; replaced a rotted deck and fence; painted the entire home; and hired a subcontractor to replace the missing/broken gutters.......ALL IN 2-DAYS - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!

HUGE THANKS TO OUR PROJECT PARTNERS!

  • Centrex Construction mobilized their own staff to work morning and afternoon shifts on Friday, as well as covering the cost of all materials (estimated at $7,000)!
  • The Harbor, a ministry of Portland Rescue Mission, also mobilized volunteers to help on Friday!
  • Bobby Andruszko of ACGI worked with other volunteers to spray the whole house with new paint on Saturday afternoon, just in time to dry before the evening rains started!
What an amazing effort by all the volunteers and partnering organizations, thank you all so much for doing what was needed to keep Mr. Darvis in his home!
