Family Promise is a national non-profit whose mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Their programs include direct services, educational curricula, prevention programs and more. FP is opening a new Day Center in Tualatin, which will provide services to families from all around the area. They are partnering with several area churches, who will provide temporary shelter and transportation to homeless families. Rolling Hills Community Church owns the home that will become the Day Center, and is donating its use by FP for at least the next 5-years....that's the good news. The bad news is that the house sat vacant for a few years with major damage to the roof & structure, rotten decks, and other problems.
We joined with volunteers from Family Promise, and several of their church partners, to do the necessary repairs, upgrades, cleaning, and painting, to get the new Day Center ready! It was a totally massive project, you really have to take a look at the photos to get an idea of all that we did. Overall, Catalyst mobilized 115 volunteers, who donated 706 hours of labor, for this project! All materials and hard-costs were funded by Family Promise and their partners.
