Hales CrewLast night, April 30th, we moved everything back into Ms. Hales’ home after replacing all of the flooring in her modest 3-bedroom home.  8 volunteers showed-up after work (several of them wearing their Catalyst t-shirts & hats) to finish the job!  Previously, her 30-year old carpet had become worn-down, damaged, and uneven in several areas; causing trip-hazards which were difficult for her to navigate due to her disability.  Also, the ancient linoleum in her kitchen was similarly damaged, with a trip-hazard of its own.  She shuffles with the help of a walker, and she had fallen a few times in recent years…it was not a good situation.  Last Saturday, 15 volunteers moved everything out into a portable storage pod in the driveway and tore-out all the carpet and kitchen flooring.  We installed a beautiful new vinyl-plank floor in her kitchen, dining, and entry areas, and a carpeting sub-contractor installed beautiful new carpet just in time for move-in!  She’s very happy and thankful, and can now continue to live safely in her home for years to come.
