Whisman Project
May 3-8 in Oregon City

Mr. & Mrs. Whisman live in their mobile home in Oregon City with their adult daughter and her two children. Oh, and their dogs & cats...it's a full house! Mr. Whisman takes pretty good care of the home, but is unable to do many things. The floor had been been systematically coming apart for years, creating soft spots and large holes all over the whole house! The structural flooring was made of particle board, which was a common practice back in the day, and was creating a very dangerous situation. In addition to this, their driveway-entry door & deck & staircases were falling apart. We partnered with Stone Creek Christian Church in Oregon City, and Parr Lumber in West Linn, to get things repaired so that the Whisman family is able to stay safely in their home. This required rental of a temporary storage pod for all their furniture, etc., removal & repair of approximately 80% of the home's flooring, installation of new subfloor, carpet installation by SteamVac, hard flooring installation in the dining room & master bath, rebuilding of the deck & stairs & door, then moving everything back in. And then, as if that wasn't enough, some families from Stone Creek CC bought the Whismans new TV's, draperies, and some furniture items & deco to give the home a new feel!
This was a truly inspiring project, done by amazing people...96 volunteers in all!
