Dennis and Mary Burlingame are a couple in their 70's living on social security, as well as some income from selling milk and eggs from their animals. The fifth wheel in which they had been living developed serious mold problems which affected their already fragile health. They had to move out of this home. Their church helped them renovate a mobile home which they purchased for $400 and placed on the same site as had been occupied by their fifth wheel. They rent this site from Ms. Burlingame's sister. Many critical work items were remaining on the mobile home, and the Burlingames and their friends were overwhelmed by the necessary work and cost of finishing.
Catalyst and Stone Creek Christian Church partnered together to help the Burlingames with the following projects:
-
Install new fascia boards and gutters for proper drainage
-
Finish building-in the enclosed patio (framing, insulation, sheetrock, door, etc.)
-
Replace broken bathroom tile flooring with new LVP
-
Other miscellaneous tasks
It was a fantastic project! 30+ volunteers came on Friday, Saturday, and Monday to do the work; and they not only did a fantastic job, but a sense of hope and encouragement was shared by all.
Following the project, Mrs. Burlingame wrote a sweet note of thanks to all the volunteers:
She writes
"Thank you! from the bottom of our hearts. Mere words aren't enough to express how gratefull we are. We want to thank each and every one of you from Catalyst NW who were a part of the work done on our house. You did professional work, and it looks wonderful. We saw the love of Jesus in you as you worked together as a team. You are very well organized. May God bless you for giving of yourself for us and others. It was a pleasure getting to know you."
