Mr. Wahed lives in his Tualatin home with his wife and two adult daughters - both of whom are college students, one at University of Portland and the other at University of Oregon. He had a successful career in I.T. , and was otherwise very active, before being diagnosed with a rare disease called Fibrous Dysplasia. This debilitating disease has resulted in severe physical and financial challenges.
The roof of the home was in terrible condition. We emergency-replaced a portion of it in 2020, and returned in Spring of 2021 to fix some sheetrock damage which resulted from Winter leaks. This Summer we returned to finish replacing the whole roof, in partnership with 3 local organizations.
This was a great project for a great family and Catalyst stepped-in to meet the need. Each day, Friday through Sunday, we had a great crew with the skills and time to devote to repairing this complicated roof. The whole project was suffused with a sense of gratitude, happiness, and camaraderie. We all had the sense of being God’s people, doing the right thing, at the right time. Thanks to the great crew. Thanks to the Wahed family for the opportunity. And thanks to God for the sense of satisfaction!
