Heart of the City is a non-profit operated by Grace Chapel in Wilsonville. H.O.C. is a hub of social responsibility for those in need, whether hunger and poverty or abuse and recovery. They provide support through services focused on critical needs such as a food distribution, medical clinics, child welfare, advocacy, addiction recovery, grief care, clothing, senior assistance, benevolent resourcing, and counseling care.

The HOC property needs a lot of TLC, and we will be partnering with them to tackle various work items over the next couple of years. This first project involved beautifying the LANDSCAPING, REMOVING AN OLD SHED, and other MISCELLANEOUS REPAIRS.

  • The Shed Demo Crew emptied the shed contents, stored them in a big box truck, tore down the shed, and disposed of all the waste in a big dumpster.
  • The Landscaping Crew focused on pruning, stump grinding, stump pulling, tree limbing,  We also  built a large flower box, and filled it with potting soil & new flowers.
  • The Miscellaneous Tasks Crew took care of minor electrical and electrical repairs.
We had 18 volunteers come to work on Heart of the City and they put in 93 hours of work.  What a cool way to spend a Saturday giving back their community. Simply Awesome!!!!

This Summer, Grace Chapel will be hiring a professional crew to come remove the old, flaking lead paint from the HOC building. After that, our generous partners at Home Depot will be joining us for PHASE 2! Plans are already underway to install a brand-new larger replacement shed, repair some rotted siding on the building, and paint the whole exterior! We'll keep you posted as plans materialize...
