Buchanan Project

Ms. Buchanan is a middle-aged single mom of a 13-year-old daughter who has owned her historic 1890’s-era home in NE Portland for 16-years. In addition to raising her daughter, Ms. Buchanan also serves as a familial caregiver for her mother, who lives in a nearby care facility.
Ms. Buchanan’s biggest “ask” was for replacement of the original 130 year-old windows - many of which were damaged or inoperable, all of which were very drafty and cold in the winter. Our amazing partners at Renewal By Andersen replaced all of her windows for free last year! This Spring, we are returning to do some minor, safety-related carpentry-repairs to her front & back entrance decks, as well as a few other little things. We’re scheduling 1-day of work by a group of 6-8 volunteers.
